For Future Consideration: Laserjet Toner Questions

When you buy a brand new Laserjet printer, it typically comes with the first set of toner cartridges so you don’t really think about having to buy replacement cartridges until that first set runs out. Then, you are faced with several LaserJet toner questions that you must answer before you purchase your replacement. This article will explain some of the questions you will have to consider when the time comes so that you are better prepared to answer them.

The first Laserjet toner question that you must ask yourself is whether or not you want to stick with the OEM brand or try out a compatible cartridge. A compatible cartridge has been designed by another manufacturer to fit your printer the same as your current toner but it is not made by Laserjet. There are advantages to compatible cartridges as they are typically cheaper but there is much debate over the quality of them.

The second Laserjet toner question that you’ll have to ask yourself is where you’d like to buy your toner from. Do you plan on returning to the office store where you purchased your printer? Are you going to see if a discount retailer in your area carries it in stock? Or, are going to look for the most competitive prices online? Although it may seem convenient to pick up your replacement cartridges from a local retailer you could end up overpaying for your replacements.

Finally, you have to decide whether or not you plan on recycling your spent cartridges and if you decide to help out our environment, you will have to find a program that accepts used cartridges for recycling. Quite often you can find free toner recycling programs online but you will have to save up several spent cartridges before you can ship them out to be recycled.
